As you know I love a bio-pic - so much so that I wrote a book on them! Bio-Pics: a life in pictures
Last year I was mourning the lack of actors nominated for playing real people in this blog: only 5 out of the 20 nominees, although congrats to Gary Oldman and Alison Janney on winning - woo hoo!
This year we're back on track with 13 of the 20 acting nominees being for actors portraying real people. And 5 of the 8 Best Picture nominees being for a film based on a true story.
So here are my predictions for who I think will scoop the top prizes on Sunday...

Film - Roma Director - Alfonso Cuaron Actor - Rami Malek
Actress - Glenn Close
Supporting Actor - Mahershala Ali Supporting Actress - Regina King
And here's who I would like to see win!

Film - The Favourite Director - Pavel Pawlikowski Supporting Actor - Richard E Grant* Supporting Actress - Emma Stone/ Rachel Weisz (There's been a joint winner before!) Actor - Rami Malek Actress - Olivia Colman
*Although Hugh Grant has been scandalously overlooked this season for Paddington 2.

Also shockingly overlooked were... Lynne Ramsay, Chloé Zhao and Debra Granik. But I'll leave that topic for another blog.

Updated after the Oscars. And here's who actually won. I never would have guessed Green Book would win! Film - Green Book Director - Alfonso Cuaron Actor - Rami Malek
Actress - Olvia Colman
Supporting Actor - Mahershala Ali Supporting Actress - Regina King
